Bayern Munich reach full agreement with Ecuadorian defensive talent Virgilio Olaya (17), prospect to be signed and loaned out

Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich are closing in on a deal to sign 17-year-old Ecuadorian centre-back Virgilio Olaya of SD Aucas. The teenage talent counts as one of the most promising young defensive prospects and already possesses an estimated market value of €1.2m. The U17 international has been courted by several European clubs.

Parameters of Olaya’s Bayern Deal

Romano reports that Olaya and Bayern have agreed to terms on a four-and-a-half year contract that will take effect in February 2024. The German record champions plan to immediately loan Olaya out for the duration of the season. It might be the case that Bayern are attempting to organize a loan to one of the other European clubs, such as Grasshopper Zürich, previously linked with the teenage talent.

Bayern cannot technically sign Olaya until his 18th birthday on February 3rd 2026. It is such that confirmation of this deal may be delayed for quite some time. Germany’s Sport Bild tabloid confirms Romano’s report of Bayern talks with Olaya, but only the Italian transfer journalist claims that full agreement on a long-term deal has been reached.
