Bayern Munich intensify efforts to acquire Crystal Palace’s Marc Guéhi on a free

Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern Munich have intensified their efforts to acquire Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi. The Sky Germany journalist reports that FCB chief personnel executive Max Eberl sat down with Guéhi’s agent Gordon Stipić to discuss a possible move to the Bundesliga on a free next summer. Guéhi can commit himself to the German giants as soon as the January transfer window opens.

Bayern are known to have plenty of competitors for the Englishman’s services, but Eberl can surely lure the 25-year-old to Munich with the promises of titles and trophies. Should Eberl succeed in convincing Guéhi to join the FCB project, it will count as a major transfer coup for Bayern’s embattled board-member-for-sport.

With a current estimated market value of €50m, Guéhi will serve as the highest value player to join Bayern on a free since Robert Lewandowski. Having already secured German defensive stalwart Jonathan Tah (€30m) on a free last season, Eberl will have rebuilt the Bayern central defensive corps without making any major outlays.
