Struggling Augsburg continue to back Sandro Wagner despite 6-0 loss to RB Leipzig

Bild reports that Augsburg continue to support head coach Sandro Wagner, despite the club’s struggles in the Bundesliga.

At the weekend, the Függerstadt side lost 6-0 to RB Leipzig, and that result left them 15th in the Bundesliga, three points clear of the relegation zone.

After the defeat, Augsburg sporting director Benjamin Weber said the club will continue with the head coach “until it works”

Via FotMob, Wagner’s team averages the most goals conceded per match in the league (2.5) as well as the lowest big chances created (8). This suggests that so far, they have not only been poor in defence, but also in attack.

Can Wagner turn it around at Augsburg?

Augsburg have only won twice this season, against Freiburg on the opening day and Wolfsburg, but away from those results, they have struggled under the former striker.

In midweek, they face 2.Bundesliga side Bochum in the DFB Pokal. Then next weekend, Borussia Dortmund are the visitors to the WWK Arena on Friday night.
