Večernji List reports that Augsburg striker Dion Drena Beljo may be on the verge of moving to Dinamo Zagreb. The Croatian newspaper claims that talks over the sale are in an “advanced stage”. The Bundesliga club is apparently set to pocket a transfer fee of €4-5m for their one time €3m purchase.
Despite having a productive season on loan at SK Rapid Vienna in the Austrian Bundesliga this year, Beljo remains on the Augsburg strike-off list. The twice-capped Croat international likely has no place in the plans of newly appointed FCA head coach Sandro Wagner.
Following the summer purchases of Chrislain Matsima, Cedric Zesiger, Elias Saad, and (most recently) Robin Fellhauer, the Fuggerstädter currently operate with an estimated negative summer transfer balance of -€3.5m. Beljo’s sale could put Augsburg back in the black.
Rapid Vienna certainly wished to purchase Beljo permanently after the 23-year-old scored 19 goals and provided five assists in the Austrian top flight last year. The agreed-upon purchase clause €7-9m purchase clause was nevertheless too much for the ÖFB outfit.
Zagreb have already signed one Bundesliga professional with Croatian international experience this summer, completing the purchase of Bayern Munich prospect Gabriel Vidovic for a reported €1.2m 11 days ago.
