Julian Nagelsmann on Leroy Sané: “He has a quality that we don’t want to miss out on.”

Serving a three match suspension, Leroy Sané was omitted from the Germany squad but Julian Nagelsmann believes there’s still a place for the Bayern Munich player in the national team.

Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz thrived against France as Germany recorded a commendable 2-0 win at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night, but that doesn’t mean to say that there won’t be a place for Sané at Euro 2024.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Nagelsmann said: “When you see the current group, you get the feeling that things work well between people. I know that Leroy is a great guy. In the end, it’s also about integrating him. He has a quality that we don’t want to miss out on. He has very good character, but he needs to fit in and then he will have the chance to show himself.”

Germany host the Netherlands on Tuesday night with Nagelsmann expected to name the same team that started against France. They will then play Ukraine and Greece in their final two friendlies in June before opening Euro 2024 against Scotland on June 14.
