Sensational ‘laptop leak’ reveals blockbuster transfer involving St. Pauli

All major German footballing media sources report that FC St. Pauli are on the verge of completing a sensational signing. FC Magdeburg forward Martijn Kaars with further augment the Bundesliga outfit’s attack via a blockbuster €5m deal. The manner in which the transfer rumor was leaked to the German press, however, is threatening to eclipse the already sensational nature of the story itself.

Hamburg’s Kiezkicker looked to have their revamped attacking corps already set with several high profile summer signings completed. The fact that St. Pauli opted to pursue Kaars – who had been linked with much larger and wealthier Bundesliga clubs – constituted a very interesting development. The manner in which the rumor got leaked nevertheless proved more interesting.

Magdeburg sporting director Otmar Schork evidently left his laptop open whilst attending one of his club’s reserve matches on Wednesday evening. Fans photographed a copy of an e-mail offer for Kaars from St; Pauli’s sporting management. The photo immediately circulated on fan forums and soon made its way to social media.

Magdeburg have issued a harsh statement in response to the incident, but it does appear as if the transfer will still go through. Kicker confirms Sky Germany reports noting that Kaars has already travelled to Hamburg, completed his medical, and is due to be unveiled by his new Bundesliga club this evening.

FC Magdeburg is deeply outraged that a photo of an email was taken and distributed without consent,” Schork noted in a club-released statement. “There are clear legal regulations that expressly prohibit the publication of such content. We have filed a complaint with the police.”
