Preview: RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich

If Bayern are to secure an away win against RB Leipzig on Saturday, they will be crowned as Bundesliga Champions.

Leipzig are looking to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League as they are currently in fifth place with 49 points following a 4-0 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.

Bayern moved one step closer to the title after a 3-0 win against Mainz. Bayern would have secured the title if Bayer Leverkusen dropped points however they were also able to secure victory with a 2-0 win over Augsburg.

Vincent Kompany’s side now sit on 75 points which is eight more than Leverkusen and can finally take back their crown with a win on Saturday.

Leipzig are just two points behind fourth placed Freiburg and interim manager Zsolt Löw is confident his side can produce a good performance following previous performances against Bayern.

“I watched back the whole first half from our game against Bayern back in 2017. We can use it as motivation and it gave me a few ideas and memories of how to approach the game,” said Löw.

“We want to play well for the whole 90 minutes. The fans have always been behind us when we’ve looked to control the game and be aggressive.”

Leipzig’s record at home has been impressive, as they have lost just one of their last eleven games and have won seven of these.

Bayern Munich have been scoring goals for fun, as they have found the net 18 times in their last seven matches and are by far the top scorers in the Bundesliga with 90 goals.

However they will be missing their top scorer Harry Kane for this fixture due to suspension and will have to find alternative solutions for their goals, with Thomas Muller being the only recognised central attacker to replace him.

Despite Leipzig’s impressive home record, Vincent Kompany’s side have been successful on the road recently by not losing in their last nine away games, collecting six victories during that time.
