Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have completed the signing of Aaron Anselmino from Chelsea on a season-long loan.
The loan is a straight one-year deal. Sky Germany reports that Dortmund do not pay a loan fee, but they do cover the 20-year-old’s salary.
Anselmino has only played for Chelsea once, in the Club World Cup, where he made a brief cameo against Benfica.
On signing the Argentine, sporting director Sebastian Kehl said:
“We have been following Aaron since his time at Boca Juniors. He is a very good solution in our current situation. A talented player who has demonstrated his quality at a young age in very emotional stadiums. We will integrate him quickly because we need him immediately and are looking forward to seeing Aaron in the black and yellow jersey this season,
The 20-year-old provides much-needed numbers in defence and will likely be needed immediately. Dortmund currently only have one available, actual centre-back in Waldemar Anton, after Filippo Mané’s red card against St.Pauli at the weekend. Whether Dortmund decide to pursue Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell to add more depth is yet to be seen.
Dortmund have begun to ramp up their transfer business. Yesterday, they announced the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea permanently, while the next signing is expected to be Wolves striker Fabio Silva.
