Köln target USMNT international Kristoffer Lund

FC Köln officially wrapped up the transfer of Norwegian right back Sebastian Sebulonsen on Friday. The 25-year-old moves to the Bundesliga on a €2.5m transfer from Copenhagen’s Brøndby IF. Reliable sources are now reporting that Germany’s cathedral city club is now targeting another Scandinavian for the left-hand-side of defense. 

The Kölnische Rundschau and Marlon Irlbacher both report that die Geißböcke now wish to acquire Danish left-back Kristoffer Lund from Serie B outfit Palermo FC. The 23-year-old has been kicking for the Sicilians for two years and maintains an estimated market value of €2.7m. Both sources claim talks are underway. 

Lund represented his native Denmark at youth level, but also utilized his duel citizenship to work with his mother’s country. He earned seven USMNT caps in 2023 and 2024, Called up by head coach Mauricio Pochettino as part of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup preliminary squad, Lund was nevertheless cut and hasn’t been capped in 2025. 

Köln welcomed their new Norwegian addition on Friday. Sporting director Thomas Kessler hailed Sebulonsen as a “strong, physically robust, and versatile player.” Sebulonsen himself declared himself very pleased to have signed with his new German club through 2028. 

I can’t wait to wear the FC jersey for the first time and play at the RheinEnergieStadion,” Sebulonsen noted in his club statement. “l want to help FC achieve its goals and will do my best to contribute with my style-of-play.
