Borussia Dortmund will be without Jamie Gittens for their FIFA Club World Cup clash against Ulsan. Niko Kovac confirmed that the Englishman would remain in Fort Lauderdale because of an illness.
“Jamie Gittens is sick and stayed in Fort Lauderdale,” Kovac told reporters. Marcel Sabitzer is also a doubt for today’s game because of a knee problem: “We need to see how he’s doing tomorrow,” added Dortmund’s head coach.
Borussia Dortmund drew their opening game against Fluminense before picking up a 4-3 win against Mamelodi Sundowns. Jobe Bellingham, Julian Brandt and Serhou Guirassy all started, and it’s unlikely that Kovac will make too many changes for their game against Ulsan.
“I’m a fan of making changes from time to time but we have an important match tomorrow and need to deliver a strong performance to win the game,” added the Croat. “We won’t completely rotate the squad.”
