According to Bild, Hamburg are set to follow the impending signing of Stade Rennes defender Warmed Omari by also completing the loan signing of Giorgi Gocholeishvili from Shakhtar Donetsk, with an option to buy next summer.
The 24-year-old will join Omari in travelling to the Hanseatic city on Wednesday to undergo a medical. If both medicals are completed without complications, both players are expected to travel on to Mallorca, where die Rothosen are currently at a pre-season training camp.
Last week, Bild reported that Hamburg were eager to strengthen the right-back position, and that either William Mikelbrencis or Silvan Hefti would likely be offloaded to make room for a new signing – now expected to be Gocholeishvili. The Georgian is in good shape and ready to compete, having already played four competitive matches for Shakhtar this season.
Gocholeishvili spent last season on loan at Danish side Copenhagen, making 33 appearances in all competitions as the team secured the domestic league and cup double.
