FC Köln end discussions for Kristoffer Lund

Bild report that newly-promoted Bundesliga club FC Köln have ended their negotiations for Palermo and USMNT defender Kristoffer Lund. After several exchanges with the Italian club, FC sporting director Thomas Kessler broke off discussions after they proved difficult.

As reported by Bild, Köln already submitted an opening offer of just under €2m to sign the American left-back, which was short of Palermo’s valuation. Furthermore, the reasoning that the Billy Goats have ended talks is because either no one was available, and then there were ‘sudden language difficulties’.

However, Bild note that this could be a way for Palermo to drive up the price. Lund, who played 35 games across all competitions for the Sicilian club last season, is currently valued at €2.7m with the Denmark born American also garnering interest from other unnamed clubs.

Bild also cites Turkish media that Köln are interested in signing Ajax defender Ahmetcan Kaplan.
