Fabrizio Romano reports that Erik ten Hag has agreed to coach Bayer Leverkusen next season. According to the Italian transfer expert, the Dutch manager has accepted the terms of a two year contract to coach the 2023/24 Bundesliga champions. This does not mean that ten Hag will be on the bench for Leverkusen next season, however.
Romano notes that Germany’s red company team still wish to wait for Cesc Fabregas’ final decision on whether or not he wishes to take the Leverkusen job. Romano also mentions that there are “several other candidates”, though no specific names are mentioned. Fàbregas, who will play his last game of the season with Como 1907 in the Serie A this Friday.
Ten Hag was known to be contemplating a return to his former club AFC Ajax in his native Holland, but prefers to take on the challenge of coaching a Bundesliga side. The former Manchester United manager does have German footballing experience coaching the Bayern Munich reserves and is fluent in German.
