Eintracht Frankfurt pull out of the race for Victor Froholdt as Porto move becons

Sky Germany reports that Eintracht Frankfurt have pulled out of a move for Copenhagen midfielder Victor Froholdt.

Frankfurt had shown a strong interest in Froholdt as they looked to him as the successor to Hugo Larsson in their midfield. The Bundesliga side had even reached a verbal agreement with the 19-year-old over a move this summer.

However, the price has ended up being a sticking point for Frankfurt. Copenhagen wanted to make Froholdt their record sale and were demanding at least €20m, which is a fee Frankfurt would not pay. This has caused them to pull out of the race for the midfielder.

Instead, Froholdt will move to Porto this summer. The Portuguese side has reached an agreement with Copenhagen over a move that will be worth €22m, a €20m base fee with €2m in add-ons, reports Fabrizio Romano

Frankfurt can now turn their attentions elsewhere, and with a transfer of Hugo Ekitiké to Liverpool nearing completion, die Adler can expect some more money for their summer business.
