Dharmesh Sheth reports that Brentford have Borussia Dortmund striker Maximilian Beier in their sights. The four-times-capped international might count as a candidate for sale once his Bundesliga outfit completes a deal to acquire Wolves striker Fabio Silva. Chances of Beier moving to London nevertheless remain slim, however, as a whole chain reaction of transfers must take place first.
Brentford are in negotiations with Newcastle over a potential sale of striker Yoane Wissa. The Magpies wish to acquire Wissa as a potential replaced for former Dortmund forward Alexander Isak, who is in turn being courted by Liverpool. Beier certainly wouldn’t turn down a chance to head to the Premier League and play at his preferred center-forward position.
Due to Serhou Guirassy’s presence, Beier often features on the right wing or deeper on the second attacking axis for BVB. The manner in which the 22-year-old is deployed tactically at his Bundesliga club hasn’t necessarily slowed the former Hoffenheim man down. Beier scored nine goals and added seven assists in 43 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund last year.
Beier’s first year with Dortmund counted as a success, but Beier still didn’t earn any more German national team caps after September 2024. The youngster also saw his estimated market value decline from €30m to €25m in the last six months. Though he did start alongside Guirassy in the Pokal, Beier sat unused on the bench throughout Dortmund’s Bundesliga opener against St. Pauli over the weekend.
