Borussia Mönchengladbach prepare to shed Tomas Cvancara and target Martijn Kaars

Sport Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach have again changed their mind with respect to Czech striker Tomas Cvancara. BMG sporting director Rolland Virkus recently stated that Cvancara would receive a fresh start with his Bundesliga outfit this season. Gladbach have nevertheless now opted to loan the 24-year-old out to Antalyaspor. The foals now target a new striker. 

Such news counts as quite the surprise. The nature of lead striker Tim Kleindienst’s injury, along with the recent departure of Alassane Plea, leaves the Niederrheiner in desperate need of attacking assistance ahead of the new season. The German tabloid reports that Gladbach have turned their attention to the 2. Bundesliga in order to rectify this. FC Magdeburg striker Martijn Kaars is now in the BMG sights.

The 26-year-old Kaars scored 20 goals and picked up six assists in 34 competitive appearances for Magdeburg last season. He featured in 33 of the 2. Bundesliga outfit’s 34 league fixtures. The successful season enabled Kaars to raise his estimated market value from €900,000 to €4m in the last nine months. Sport Bild offers no information on how far along negotiations are at this point.
