Borussia Dortmund tender ‘Yan Couto style’ loan offer for Manchester City’s Claudio Echeverri

Sky Germany – as relayed by transfermarkt.de – reports that Borussia Dortmund are looking to acquire Manchester City attacking-midfielder Claudio Echeverri on loan. The Bundesliga club apparently wishes to offer the Citizens something similar to the arrangement that ultimately enabled them to secure Yan Couto.

City paid €18m to acquire Echeverri from River Plate in January 2024. He joined up with Pep Guardiola’s side last December after initially being loaned back out to his Argentine academy side.

The 19-year-old has thus far made one league, one cup, and one Club World Cup appearance for his Premier League club and scored in the CWC group stage this summer.

It remains unclear at this point how much Dortmund are offering for the ten-times-capped Argentina U23 international. Couto was eventually purchased permanently for €20m.

Echeverri currently maintains an estimated €18m market value.

Dortmund are also trying to obtain another Premier League attacking midfielder on loan with an option to buy. In the case of Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, die Schwarzgelben hope to eventually shell out €17-€20m for the 21-year-old via an easily triggered automatic purchase clause.
