Borussia Dortmund rule out signing Jadon Sancho, yet remain interested in Jobe Bellingham

Despite a strong desire of the player himself to return to the club, Borussia Dortmund are not interested in re-signing Jadon Sancho. Sport Bild makes this claim in a BVB piece appearing in Wednesday’s print edition of the tabloid. Club management is said to have ruled out a third stint with the former England international, but that other Bundesliga clubs might still be interested.

Sancho’s return to his old stomping ground on loan from Manchester United did produce some modest success. The former Dortmund star scored three goals and registered three assists in 21 appearances for Edin Terzic’s BVB across all competitions.

Sancho nevertheless continues to struggle to find his footing on loan at Chelsea this year and is a far cry from the €130m-valued player that Dortmund sold to United for €85m ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

In other Dortmund-related personnel news, Sport Bild does make the claim that the Westphalians remain interested in acquiring the younger brother of one of their former stars.

Reports suggesting that Jobe Bellingham lies outside the Bundesliga outfit’s reach notwithstanding, the German tabloid insists that Dortmund will still try to lure the Sunderland midfielder to the club that launched his older brother’s career.

The previous calculus has shifted now that Dortmund are back on track to qualify for Champions League football next year. Jobe – with an estimated price tag of €25-30m – could constitute a much cheaper option than current English loanee Carney Chukwuemeka.
