No player has scored more than Nick Woltemade’s five goals at the U21 European Championship. The 23-year-old striker is coming off a spectacular season with Stuttgart which resulted in 17 goals and three assists in 33 games across all competitions, prompting interest from Europe’s top clubs.
Speaking after Bayern Munich’s 1-0 defeat to Benfica at the FIFA Club World Cup, sporting director Christoph Freund commented on Woltemade.
“Nick is playing very well. He’s a player who’s very interesting,” said Freund.
Bayern Munich’s interest in Woltemade has been well documented but the Rekordmeister are working on strengthening other areas. A winger remains their top priority following the departure of Mathys Tel to Tottenham on a permanent basis, while Leroy Sané will join Galatasaray when his contract expires.
Although Woltemade has a contract until 2028, Stuttgart remain hopeful of enticing their key player to remain at the club. Stuttgart’s latest contract offer to the 23-year-old is a one-year extension until 2029 with a €1m increase in salary.
