Sport Bild reports that Bayern Munich have made contact with Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick’s agent over a possible summer transfer. The German record champions target the Czech international as a back-up for Harry Kane next season. Schick has enjoyed a fabulous comeback season for the 2023/24 Bundesliga champions, scoring 24 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions.
The notion of Schick accepting a back-up role may seem far-fetched, but the 29-year-old may be tempted to move to the German giants at this stage of his career. Bayern presently do not have a classic nine besides Kane in the squad. Schick can still conceivably hope for plenty of minutes in the event that Kane gets injured or needs a rest.
Given Kane’s tendency to work deeper with the ball, Schick can even hope for some starts in some tactical setups. Schick certainly counts as one of the many Leverkusen players considering jumping ship amid all the tumultuous changes coming at Germany’s red company team this summer. The 44-times-capped Czech international has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.
