Bayer Leverkusen will let Alejandro Grimaldo leave for €30-40m with Barcelona interested

Sky Germany reports that Barcelona are interested in Bayer Leverkusen full-back Alejandro Grimaldo, who could leave the club in the summer.

The Catalan side are interested in luring Grimaldo to Barcelona, with sporting director Deco also a big fan of the 29-year-old. The Spanish international had previously played for Barcelona’s academy before moving to Benfica in 2016, which is where he made his name.

A return to Barcelona is a dream for Grimaldo, and although his contract at Leverkusen does not expire until 2027, there is an agreement in place that would allow the 29-year-old to leave the BayArena for Catalonia.

The full-back is said to be interested in leaving Leverkusen in the summer, but if he does leave, die Werkself will demand €30-40m for Grimaldo, and if Barcelona were to pursue him, they would need to sell first.

This summer could be a mass exodus of players for Leverkusen, with Jonathan Tah set to leave, Jeremie Frimpong pushing for a move, while the futures of Florian Wirtz, Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface are up in the air. Add on top of this the uncertain future of Xabi Alonso
