Bayer Leverkusen in negotiations for AZ Alkmaar winger Ernest Poku

Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen are in negotiations for AZ Alkmaar winger Ernest Poku as they continue their summer overhaul

Leverkusen have been looking for reinforcements in their attack following the vast departures in the summer. While they are still looking for a central player who could fill the space left by Florian Wirtz, Leverkusen have also been looking for a winger to replace Jeremie Frimpong, with Arthur expected to play at right-back.

Poku is of interest to Leverkusen as his contract expires next summer, meaning this is AZ’s last chance to sell him for a substantial fee. Negotiations between Leverkusen and AZ for Poku are reportedly well advanced, and a fee of around €10m could be enough.

The 21-year-old was actually born in Hamburg, but has opted to represent the Netherlands. Last season, the right-winger scored three and assisted eight in 42 games. Poku can also play on the left wing and has even featured through the middle for AZ.
