Kicker reports that VfL Wolfsburg defensive prospect David Odogu may be loaned out to RSC Anderlecht. The 19-year-old caught the eye during three Bundesliga appearances (two starts) last April and May. Anderlecht hope to acquire the Germany U17 World Cup winner on loan with an option to buy. Kicker claims that Wolfsburg themselves wish to secure a buyback option for their teenage talent.
Odogu maintains little prospect of playing for the German Wolves this season despite an injury to central defensive starter Denis Vavro. Odogu’s fellow German defender Moritz Jenz appears set to serve as Vavro’s replacement after opting to remain with die Wölfe after all. Both Odogu and 18-year-old French prospect Mathys Angely may be loaned out before the current summer transfer window closes.
In terms of new defensive additions at Wolfsburg, Kicker reports that the VWers still haven’t made up their mind of which right back to bring in to serve as Kilian Fischer’s back-up. The German magazine verifies rumors involving both Olympique Lyon’s Saël Kumbedi and Coventry City’s Milan van Ewijk.
Kumbedi is reportedly ready to join Germany’s green company team, but Wolfsburg haven’t given up on re-uniting van Ewijk with Paul Simonis. The current VfL head coach once served as Van Ewijk’s assistant coach at Dutch outfit SC Heerenveen. In addition to serving at right back, van Ewijk can serve higher up in midfield.
