Thomas Meunier has become his own agent

As reported by Patrick Berger for Sport1, Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier has taken it upon himself to become his own advisor and football agent.

Meunier has once represented by his longterm agent Jacques Lichtenstein. However, having recently recovered from a long-term illness, Lichtenstein has decided to retire from the industry.

This led the BVB player to decide that he will now represent himself when it comes to contract talks, possible transfers, and so on.

Meunier told Sport1: It’s true that I’m representing myself now. I don’t find that unusual. I’ve been in the football business for a long time and after all these years I know the people in charge of all the big clubs. I have all contacts. If at some point I might need a new challenge, I can call the clubs myself and sort it out.”

The defender will have to do his business from the injury table for the time being. Meunier recently sustained an injury during Borussia Dortmund training and was later pictured in crutches.

It is unclear how serious the injury is or for how long the full-back will be out of action. When it comes to the full-back position head coach Edin Terzić has limited options. Ahead of the second half of the season, BVB may be persuaded into the transfer market.
