Kicker is currently confirming reports from Sky Sports, L’Équipe, and Fabrizio Romano regarding the imminent transfer of RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara to RC Lens. The 27-year-old – who has not featured for his Bundesliga club this season – is reportedly completing a medical with the Ligue 1 leaders. A transfer in the neighborhood of €3m including bonuses is expected to be finalized shortly.
Haidara no longer plays a role in RB Leipzig’s plans despite seven seasons of service to the German Red Bulls and 222 total competitive appearances for his German outfit. After making 40 appearances for Leipzig across all competitions last season, he was reported to be on the verge of several different moves during the summer.
Haidara does maintain an estimated market value of €12m and Leipzig appear satisfied to offload the RB system veteran for a mere fraction of his value. The fact that Haidara – who still plays an important role for the Malian national team – is due to report to the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next week likely fuels the desire for all parties to get a deal done quickly.
