Uli Hoeneß: “There is no secret that we are looking for a backup for Lewandowski.”

Speaking after Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win over Stuttgart on Saturday, president Uli Hoeneß has confirmed that there is money to spend, should they wish to do so.

“If we see the need, we will do 50, 60 and 70 million euro transfers,” Hoeneß told reporters, via Tobias Altschäffl.

“There is no secret that we are looking for a backup for [Robert] Lewandowski. It will also depend on the Dortmund game on Wednesday. If we remain in the three competitions beyond winter, then the need for a backup is even bigger.”

In the lead up to the January window, Bayern have been linked with moves for Sandro Wagner and Nils Petersen.
