Naby Keita unlikely to sign RB Leipzig extension

As things stand, RB Leipzig may not be able to extend Naby Keita’s contract, according to RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick.

Speaking with Sport Bild, Rangnick stated that the Liverpool target will remain in Leipzig this season, whilst a contract extension would depend on their finish in the Bundesliga this campaign.

“I am not currently assuming that we will be able to extend his contract prematurely. I can assure you that Naby will be playing with us this season. All other scenarios also depend on how we do this season, how Naby plays himself and so on,” Rangnick told Sport Bild

“It does not matter at all whether it’s €75 million or €100 million. We have not developed for five years so that we can lose one of our best players in the first Champions League season. That would make no sense. We want to be successful in sports.”

A clause in his contract will allow Keita to leave for €50 million next summer.
